*Arc tbc* ---Ann Elizabeth Unknown possibly Willetts

Post by mumbles »

This is a strange one as Suki has baptism record at St. Giles showing Anthony Willetts as son of Thomas Jones and Ann Elizabeth Unknown:-
Birth record:-JONES Anthony W Halesowen Dudley Register Office HAL/007/86
original shows Anthony Willetts Jones
1861 Census shows Anthony W. Jones as scholar boarding at Birmingham School
and 1881 Census shows Anthony Willetts Jones
Since middle name is Willetts surely mothers name was Willetts ?

I have come across this before and in some cases it turned out to be a grandmother maiden name.

You may be right Jimmy as I found more children on RR Parish records and another middle name:-
The Anthony Willetts Jones Record shows Thomas and Ann Elizabeth Jones as married and Thomas as Gentleman
19/3/1845 Albert baptised son of Thomas and Ann Elizabeth Jones , Olive House Nail Ironmonger
also Victoria daughter
also Caroline daughter
also George Adams son
1/7/1843 John baptised son of Thomas & Ann Elizabeth Jones Blackheath Nail Ironmonger
27/7/1838 Elizabeth Victoria daughter of Thomas and Ann Elizabeth Jones , Olive House Nail Ironmonger
This means entry for Anthony Willetts should be amended to Anthony Willetts Jones

Nl, I will amend and insert what I have found but I will research some more as this is an interesting family who lived at Olive House with servants and sent children to boarding school at Birmingham and London and two widowed sisters lived at Clu (or Clew) Hall in Wolverley in 1881 . There appear be two Anthony Jones one born 1835 and one born 1847. The Willetts seems to be a family name from Thomas Jones side of family ref. one of his sisters having middle name Willetts and King appears to be same also as one of sisters has married name King. This means no further forward in identifying surname of Ann Elizabeth Unknown other than amended dates of birth and marriage before 1830 for Thomas and Ann Elizabeth Jones

Suki, That ties up as Thomas the son born 1832 was baptised Thomas Pargeter Jones in 1832 so Pargeter must be another family name. I have found a lot of detail about Thomas Pargeter Jones which I will enter

I have found more National Archives details of papers relating to Elizabeth Jones ( born Skidmore) wife of Thomas Pargeter Jones of The Hollies Oakham Road and a marriage settlement at 1855.
Also found :-
Jan. 4th 1900 Thomas Jones (gentleman) noted as a Debtor reference a farmhouse near The Hollies Oakham near Dudley Worcs. lately residing at Churchill House , Churchill Worcs.
Various of the children have a middle name :- Adams, Pargeter, King, Willetts but cannot work out relationships yet except it is noted that Thomas Pargeter Jones is nephew of Phoebe Smith (nee Pargeter) daughter of William Pargeter.
The Pargeters were involved with glass works at Wordsley but have not found a link.
Not related to me either Suki but interesting as they were not of the background of people usually found in the Cocksheds, The Hill area but nail factors were the people who acted as agents between the Nail Factories and the people who made nails in back yards and many went on to become manufacturers themselves.
