Can we help?
post by JanaMun » Tue Apr 14, 2026 8:49 am
Hello. My name is Janet. I am trying to find out where my grandfather was buried. His name is Alfred Spyers HARRIS, born in December 1875 and died in hospital in Wolverhampton in January 1933. He had been separated from his wife and children, who lived in London, since returning from the War. He lived in Lucknow Road,Short Heath, Wolverhampton. I am now 82 but until my brothers death we trawled burial grounds in the area to try and find his resting place. Can anyone help. Thank you

Hi JanaMun, I'm not from the area but looking on the map I can see Lucknow Road is not too far away from Willenhall Churchyard, Cemetery Road, Willenhall
but I guess you've tried there?
How about these..........
Bentley Cemetery
Holy Trinity Churchyard Shortheath
Mount Olive Churchyard
St Giles Church Cemetery
Willenhall Lawn Cemetery
Wood Street Cemetery

Hi
Have you tried Bushbury Crem in Wolverhampton as they have a Cemetery too.
Good luck with your searches.

Hello Janet,
I have searched online at FreeREG, Find A Grave, Deceased Online, Familysearch, Ancestry and Find My Past but couldn't find anything.
Have you found Alfred in the 1921 Census, because I can't find him? I have found his wife Elizabeth Ann and their children here if you don't already have it:-
1921: 8 Rockingham Buildings, Newington
Elizabeth Ann Harris, Wife, 42, Clerkenwell, London, Paper Bag Maker, Crecon Robinsons, Paper Bag Makers & Printers
Edith Elizabeth Frances Harris, Daughter, 20, Notting Hill, London, Envelope Machinist Spicers Brothers
Alfred William Harris, Son, 12, Southwark, London
John Francis Harris, Son, 10
Charles George Harris, Son, 7, Southwark, London
Walter Dunstan Childs Harris, Son, 2, At Home
Do you have Alfred's Death Certificate? If you do, is the informant anybody in your family and rather than the burial taking place in the Wolverhampton area it could have taken place close to a member of the family - just a thought.
