John Hay(1775-1855) and Susannah Milton (1786-1847)

Post by Frodo »

I have been looking back through research checking for problems/new information with my cousin Beth in America who is descended from John Hay. Looking at other Ancestry Trees I noticed that they nearly all had Susannah Milton married to a William Harris.
They were both from Worcestershire and married in Brighton in 1806 as he was in the militia and later returned to Worcestershire - she died in 1880. The family they have added for her is the same we have for the Susannah who married John Hay in 1808.
I have been unable to find two Susannah Miltons born around the correct time in the correct area.
In England Select Marriages John married a Susannah Maltin, the name seems to vary.
There is a Susanna Molton born in Burford in 1789, baptized 1790 - is it possible this is John's spouse?
In 1841 they are living in Rochford, Herefordshire and she was born out of county.
By 1851 John is a widower which is consistent with the death in 1847 in the Civil Registration Death Index.
John passed away Oct-December 1855 (Stourbridge 6c 83) having moved to live with his daughter Ann after Susannah's death - this isn't on BCC
