BOND, William John
Worcestershire. 06 August 1915
Biographies

William Bond was born in Romsley and lived with his parents, William and Elizabeth Bond, at 20 Bromsgrove Street, Halesowen. He volunteered in 1914 for the Worcesters and was posted to the 4th Battalion. In April 1915 this battalion landed on Gallipoli on the first day of the campaign but, as with the rest of the force, remained pinned down near Cape Helles. Fresh landings, together with a major attack from the original troops at the village of Krithia, were attempted on the 6th August but little progress was made. Private William Bond was killed in action on this day. He was 23 years of age and is commemorated on the Helles and the Halesowen
