Reuben Barrichello snatches the European Grand Prix Formula One. 2 silver medals for Great Britain on the last day of the World Championship athletics. Is this a good sign for our medal hopes for the pending 2012 London Olympics? Chick Murray lost to Roger Federer in the semi's of the Cincinnati Masters.Ias he going to win the US Open.Chick i mean!! Sorry his names Andy,Andy Murray!! And England womens hockey team lost 5-0 to the Dutch women today.I watched the whole match.Rivetting stuff!!
I enjoy Rugby a straightforward clean game, without the moaning of coaches and over paid managers, who don't give a damn about the players, who are overpaid anyway........I won't mention the sport!!......and the Ashes what can I say....Brill!. Mike.
Well Well !!........Is Football the only Sport that people in the Black Country care about ?...what about Archery ! every male in England at one time had to learn to use the Longbow between the ages of 6 and 60.....and ball games were banned. Mike.
er.. excuse me Mike, we don't even mention that word ( football ) on here! You wanna talk about Archery, so tell us how involved you are/were - it's your shout

Yeah CID you are so "in your face"!!! Mike is obviously a sensitive person and needs to be handled gently!! I had a bow and arrow once. Made by Accles and Pollocks!! Who may i add were the premier manufactures of this kind of sporting good!! Once upon a time. When summers were warmer and days were longer and things were simpler.
You are a smooth lot !!....I have been shooting in the Longbow now for about 45 yrs. I do not shoot as a competetive archer only for a pastime, the Bows I use are the traditional English longbow ie. they are D section made in various woods, but the best to me are made of Yew where you get the sap wood and heart wood working as one, the sap wood is on the back of the bow (the front of the bow which is the straight part of the D ) and the heart wood which is the belly on the inside of the bow the curve of the D) the design of the english longbow has not changed in hundreds of years, I have several Victorian longbows that I still use, one dates back to 1845 and is still good. A brief description of the arrows, normaly have three feathers all from one wing of the bird either left or right wing never mix right and left, the arrow will not fly straight. There are two feathers run alomg the bow and the cock feather on outside of bow.As for the Accles & pollock bows they were very good but were prone to metal fatigue and the archers wore caps in case the bow broke. I will continue the next 100 chapters in the future......I don't think!......most longbow archers shoot instinctively...no sights. Mike.

ME in your face...........I'm most offended...... You're the one waxing lyrical. I was asking a valid question about arras and bolts. Now you've gone off on a Robin Hood theme.
Poor Mike must despair of the lot of you
Accles and Pollocks eh? That's going back a bit, not that I can remember
