Searching for service records
I am trying to obtain my grandfather's service records, can anyone tell me if you can search for them on-line at the national archives and then download any information. I have been looking on the na web-site but it seems so confusing. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Searching for service records
Some service information and most medal records are available to download for a small charge. If you go to http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/power-search.asp?searchType=powersearch you can narrow the search to anything which you think may be of relevance.
As far as I'm aware (though I've not looked in a while) full service records are only available with a personal visit to the archives. Medal cards though do generally give Corps/Regiment and service dates.
