[Northern Lass]

How about we start off a bit of a poem featuring all the members on BCC and on here in rhyming couplet
and see how far we get
keep it clean!


So somat like....

To all members here and on BCC
A Welcome to all and your family tree

A rite melting pot of old and young un
Let's meet em now and have some fun

There's Robbie the Rascal an Oldbury lad
Talks a rite load of twaddle but aint all that bad!
Older now but glam in his youth
bit mutton as lamb if we're telling the truth

Then there's our Jan who's bossy and loud
But she owns BCC , and of it she's so proud
and if she thinks your're likely to be making an error
she reaches for the drumsticks and turns into a terror

One for Jan !!!!!
Nls the girl who just seems to shirk
All full stops and commas, conjuctions that lurk,
The efforts just endless,both day and by night,
her joined up sentences are blinding to sight,
But give her a problem and solve it she will,
and the work on Connections appear done with a quill.! Sparks !!!!

With Peter d from where he aint telling
a master of postings but aint hot on spelling
a northern cum Geordie yet to be met
why aye the lads and a rite little pet!


And Mally or Mallosa our Gallery Queen
pretty as a picture often heard but not seen
a staunch supporter of those men in blue
A real Brummie Bird thru and thru


Newbie Mkeyfoo who likes his ooman
watch him ladies he's an archery fan
those arrows he shoots go straight to the heart
knows what he likes and likes what he knows ...dead smart!

and another for Mkeyfoo...aka Mike!

Mike like to write lots of posts in the snug
and if you didn't know him you might think him smug----------------------------Washing machine / super ladies thread
he thinks he's in charge of his 'ooman' it's clear
Mrs Mike begs to differ, Mikes answer? YES DEAR!!!!!

No babbling Brookes with our guy here
that's not why he's called Mumbles of that let's be clear
Our Mumbles finds connections faster than Bt Telecom
With his Dingleys and Brookes he is family to everyone!


Saying Hi to Lin our Halesowen gal
Knows all the places our Black Country Pal
A Whiz on the churches from Rowley to Penn
a font of all Knowldedge, a blessing, Amen


With one mighty leap he pounces on the target
yes it is Jimmy the Cat! the terror of the genealogy set
with his agile ways he makes the hunt look a breeze
One Cool Cat even though he likes the Bee Gees

Kdw is fairly new
missing some family ,give her a clue
looking at records is what she does
you never know, she could be your cus.

....and then there's our Annie, with kindness galore
her offers of help with tasks, such a bore,
Flaunting her T-shirt with such pride,
she sent us a photo, now there's nowhere to hide!

Welcome to Maths Girl aka MG
who now knows that 1+1 makes 3
Hot off the mark plays by the rule
but come Sept will be back to the school

What about our Denis he's an Oldbury lad
He's a Professor so he's not done too bad
Even though he's famous he still loves his roots
Likes to to take photos when out on his shoots

FarSide is faster than a speeding bullet
mistranscribed names - she quickly gets to it
the answer comes back as fast as can be
then more rellies can be added to your family tree

BlueSavannah - the name sounds serene as can be
but check out her posts she's as busy as a bee
posts in the morning, checks them out noon and night
cos as every one knows we MUST GET IT RITE

In Australia there's a travelling Di,
who occasionaly stops by to say Hi
then she's off in a flash
to the next sight she must dash
you don't even get chance to reply!

Sos - went into limerick mode

Well what about our one and only C - i - d
her skills with the rhyme are riveling me!
With her powers of detection she is hot on the case
leaving Scotland yard with egg on their face

Graingers 14's been appointed a 'mod'
so please mind your p's and your q's
'cos if you offend Jo's soon on the case
and your ability to post you'll soon lose

his wife annoys him loads
she keeps going shopping but always returns
Bet that keeps S.S. on his toes

Gardener's real quick, she flits to and fro
between census and BMD sites
she's got lots of letters after her name
is No. 1 genealogist in her sights?

Poles apart Gardener and me
but linked together thru our family tree
cos she is me Cos if you see wot I mean
and hot on research our very own Ice Queen


How about Di P our horse riding lass
great exercise for improving the a**
a northern lass who knows about forlocks
and if truth be told quite abit about warlocks

Silver Surfer glides rght in
on one enormous wave
so ask your questions, don't be shy
a path to the answer she'll pave

I'm certainly no poet but I have enjoyed reading your offerings - it has helped me to feel I know you better

A good post to direct nervous newcomers to so that can know who is replying to them in a light hearted way.

Hi Mallosa your a good poet also, and Northern Lass is just churning them out how clever , I'm no good as a poet so won't even try.

Ok just wondering-so not knowing Di - is "sight" as in beautiful views or a play on words as in computer "sites" or a mixture of both?

This really is a great way of getting to know everybody - I hadn't realised quite how many of you are when I just see you in 1's and 2's on threads but in a whole set of verses there are loads of you!!

Sorry about that my caesuras are lacking
and with end stopped lines I am blatently slacking!
My enjambement forces my syntax full speed
so of commas and full stops I pay no heed
I will do my best to remember my grammer
m-m-maybe t'would be b-b-est if I d-d-develop a stammer!

insulting each other in rhyme,
And they have the nerve to accuse poor old moi

So now if a newbie appears per chance
to view what we think of each other,
they might just decide that we're all quite mad
and forsake this forum for another.

So come on play fair and try to be nice
so this forum appeals to more folk.
I'll start the ball rolling I'll give it a go
