Hi Marg, did Ellen marry again by any chance? Have you tried different spellings for her name? Dudley is a nightmare for burials, there were so many Churches in such a small area. Have you tried the Dudley Archives site, their holdings are listed on there. Will find it out and put it on here for you. Best Wishes from Linell.

Hi Linell
Thank you, I have tried Dudley Archives but I only check out Netherton burials I have tried every which way on the spelling, my grandfather died in 1900 and Ellen died before him my father ended up in Gem St Industrial School Birmingham so I went Birmingham Archives to look at his admissions records to see if they had any details of when his mother died, I found his discharge records but the admission records were covered by the 100 year law so I had to apply to the social services for them to do the look up but they found nothing, I think my last hope is on the burial records if I can find a list of churche's it could be.
Thanks for your help Tobytwo

Yes that is my grandfather I had a problem with that to they had his age wrong I sent for it in the end and it was him, he was not on the St Andrews burials either nor any of the other Coley's in my tree so I think it must be another church.to narrow the year span I have also looked at children who ether died at birth or an early age after 1886 the year my dad was born to see if they were Ellen and Walters children because in those days It was unusual to have one child and I think she may have died in childbirth but when ? I think I will send for Nellie you never now they were wrong on Walter.
Thanks Tobytwo

If you do send for it say you only want it if she is about age such and such
they are very good at the registry offices
send them an email asking first
they will normally help you that way save you wasting time and effort
if you can find him you may find her
could be any cemetary or church though
what is the address on his death cert
