1939 England and Wales Census,
Hello , does anyone on the Forum have access to Ancestry.com.
I have been trying to find my ancestors on this 1939 census but where their address was the page appears to be missing.
They lived at number27 Hollybush Street, Cradley Heath in th borough of Rowley Regis,, the district letter code is ORWB, registration district or sub district is 372/1.
They were Albert Cooke(Cook) born about 1871, his son also Albert born about 1891 and daughter Winifred born about 1893.
Pages in the census go from no.1 to no.13 --then no.14 to no.25,then no.38 to no.56, The next page contains houses in St.Lukes Street,
So pages in the census are missing between 26 to 38, for Hollybush Street.
Ancestry have said it could be my browser that is at fault.
Would someone be kind enough to look at this census for me on their computer to see if they have the same problem as me.
Thanking you

Re: 1939 England and Wales Census,
Hi Pat
I'm using findmypast
A quick look, using Hollybush street in the address field fro Rowley Regis comes up blank!
If I just put Hollybush street in, it finds two, but one is West Ham and the other Rawmarsh in Yorkshire.
I tried searching for Albert Cooke (with name variants) b 1871 +/- 5 years again in the 1939 census and it doesn't find him.
sorry that's not much help, but I'll try with some of the other info you gave

Re: 1939 England and Wales Census,
Ah! just found one solution Holly Bush is two words!!!
Found it ......but there are only 26 houses on it, and they are numbered from 1 to 25, a couple have "A"...i.e. 12A
No 27 I'm afraid

Re: 1939 England and Wales Census,
They only lived there in 1911 census so widower albert may have died or lived wth rels? In BCC makes it a bit clearer https://www.tribalpages.com/tribe/brows ... ver=516450
send for Albert`s death cert?

Re: 1939 England and Wales Census,
Albert Cooke snr died in Hollybush Street in 1940 , his son AlbertCooke jnr died in 1941 , Albert snr daughter Winnie lived in that house in Hollybush Street un til the houses were demolished in about the late 1970s or earlt 80s.I know because I visited her there many times. She was eventually rehoused in Wrights Lane where she died in 1983,

Re: 1939 England and Wales Census,
Coming to the limit of my genealogy skills Pat. Something isn't adding up!
In the 1939 census for Rowley Regis there are 19 Cooke's (with an "e") One in fact is a Winifred, (DoB 15 Aug 1922) with later names of Haden and Oldfield, she is one of 6 living at 14 Meadow Walk Cradley Heath, but parents would appear to be Sidney and Beatrice?
Dropping the "e" there are 101 name variations of Cooke. again the closest I can get is Albert Cook living at 28 trinity Street, Old hill.
Any of this make any sense, sorry I cant be of more help

Re: 1939 England and Wales Census,
rather than using the search function, I went to the original records (22 pages of them!) and indeed can confirm I got the same result you describe. Pages 1 and 2 are the entries for Hooly Bush street up to no.25 as you describe. Then page 3 continues from No.38. I don't know if its relevant at all, but this page adds "CH" at the end of Holly Bush Street?
So basically it isn't your browser! I get the same as you

Re: 1939 England and Wales Census,
It looks as though the page you want was not included in the scan for some reason. That is really annoying.

You might have a look at The National Archive to see if there's a contact address for enquiries.

Re: 1939 England and Wales Census,
The National Archives says on site all the register is on line (FMP digitalized it so they may have missed a page?)
