Another James Brookes puzzle but with a twist:-

James appears to have married an unmarried mother aged 37 and adopted her daughter Jane when he was 66 years old and had a son Joseph James Brookes when he was 68.
I am trying to find him before the marriage ?

Is it possible he was married before? To an Eliza? There is a family which fits if that is the case,

Could be gardener as age fits but I think what is needed is a marriage look up and I will research James and Eliza

The father on the marriage look up is a Joseph
but I didnt want to connect without your ok on this

no occup for father on cert

Age of James from marriage is born 1827 possibly a fib and census is born 1819 so that would point away from 1812 James

It would appear that James Brookes born 1812 and James Brookes born 1819 are out of picture as ages are nowhere near 1819 needed.
The James Brookes that gardener identified who married an Eliza fits reference age but no way of proving unless we can find a link in Census details prior to those below:-

Marriage to Eliza Griffiths June 1845 Dudley

It would appear that Hannah shown above is possibly grandmother of James David, Samuel and Henry as age would suggest not mother

Complete as had to add a new James to bcc as could not make connection to other James Brookes's on site
Have added a lot of Census details validating marriage of this James Brookes to Eliza Griffiths family
