If so, then his birthday is given as 4 August 1902. (matches the 1939 register entry for Percy, occupation signalman)

Would that fit? If you get his marriage certificate then it should have his father's name and occupation on it, but this seems likely to be right.

They are easy to find in 1911, but the father is Edwin rather than Edward. He married Jane Dorothy Perks in 1901 I think.
