Another baffling puzzle....

I'll start with William Hodgetts (1760 - ?) married Joice Hill (1777 - ?). Their children were: -

Mary Baptised 11/3/1787 at Halesowen
Elizabeth 1789 -
Hannah 1791 -
Benjamin baptised 1793 in Halesowen - Died: 28/2/1869 in Cradley)
Sarah 1796 - 1869
Nancy 1799 -
Harriot 1804

Benjamin (1793 - 2/2/1869) married Sarah Read (1794 - 1868) on 31st December 1820 at Oldswinford, Stourbridge. Their children were: -

William 1821 - 1892
Thomas 1824 -
Mary Ann Baptised: 9/1/1825 at St. John's, Halesowen.
Benjamin 1827 -
Caroline 1827 -
Edward 1827 - 1906
Henry 1831 -
Matilda 1833 -
Ellen 1836 -
Sarah 1836 -
Eliza 1845 -

I have since come across Benjamin Hodgetts (1793 - 1869) married to Sarah Hill (1794 - 1868) on 16th April 1815 at Clent, Worcestershire!!! What is very strange is that Sarah Hill actually shares the same dates as Sarah Read plus has married the same Benjamin Hodgetts but on a different date & place plus had the same children that Benjamin had with Sarah Read!!!

Did Benjamin marry twice? Or are Sarah Read & Sarah Hill the same person despite different marriage dates?

May not be the same couple, are you finding this information on line? There is a lot of incorrect information Submitted by the general Public on some Genealogy sites.

I got these as far back as Benjamin Hodgetts & Sarah Read from my Mom & her older cousin, Clara Worton who was so interested in Family trees. Also we have old wee cards from funerals, etc that have helped with some members. Auntie Shirley Mapp has also been researching, using birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc that she learned at college in Halesowen. I have also used Family Search several years ago & am now using Ancestry.co.uk as they use links to births, deaths, etc. Some are actual birth dates but the further back in history, mostly baptised date records. It was via Ancestry.co.uk that I found Sarah Hill, using Tree hints to other members' family trees hence my query on here.

The marriage at Clent looks ok to me.

Oh no first child William baptised 1821, suppose there could be some earlier children we haven't searched for?

Has anyone found out the actual death dates for Sarah Hill & Sarah Read? It could be that Benjamin married Sarah Hill first, then married Sarah Read after the death of Sarah Hill? I just can't accept that both Sarahs were baptised and died the same year as that would be too much of a coincidence!

Then there is the marriage

Marriage: 31 Dec 1820 - Birmingham, St Martin, Warwickshire

I can't see that Sarah Read is likely to have been the mother of Sarah and Ann bpt 2 April 1820. So I wonder if they were the daughters of Sarah Hill? Married 16th April 1815 at Clent, Worcestershire.

Hard to be sure though.
