Hi all, Everything looks okay re above....are you ready for another 'task'.......Has anyone any info. on William NICKLESS and Emma CASTLE B. abt 1850...whose daughter Emily Louisa NICKLESS b. 1875. married Arthur Douglas WILLIAMS b. 1872, son of Thomas WILLIAMS b. Essington 1847. I believe Emma CASTLE died young, and William NICKLESS married again and had a family, thought to be living in Aston area, B'ham. This would fill a big gap in my 'tree'. Regards 'sparks'.

So what do you actually need Sparks?
the death of Emma?
the remarriage of William?

Ok on the 1881 census Wolloston Worcs we have William Nickless and wife Emma and kids including Emma

William is age 62 farmer b Worcs Elmbridge?
and
Emma is age 40 b stourbridge so this looks like her death....

Deaths Jun 1882
Nickless Emma 41 Stourbridge 6c 85

on the 1891 he is still in Wolloston
age 70 widower with son William age 25 and Emma

are you sure you have him remarried?
as the one in bromsgrove in 1901 married to an Ann is on the 1891 census with her
so that aint yours...

Have Birth Cert. dated 3.10.1874 for Emily Louisa Nickless.....Father William Nickless and mother Emma (formally Castle) Can find Emily on 1891 Census ..in service for William Sargeant ..Baker. Foleshill....Cannot find any reference on 1881 for Emily L Nickless or Her parents 1881 or before. William Nickless is down as a Brassdresser.. I have a poss..for William 1881, living in Aston B'ham age 27 and a widower?? so Emma must have died very young.

I was just looking at this,
I was wondering if you have any certificates to say williams occupation and if it was Emma Castle, I cant see a marriage for them?

Hi Jo...I had forgotten about this post ... :oops: Relates to my Gt/Grandparents.
I have a copy of a marriage cert: 31st May 1873
St.Davids, Birmingham....William NICHOLAS/ Emily CASTLE
William is rec.as Brass founder..father William Nicholas, fitter.
Emily's father...Thomas Castle..Gen.Dealer.
William signed X Emily signed name.
On my Grandmothers birth cert. father is down as Brass Dresser
mother ..Emma NICKLESS formally CASTLE....I am assuming that
this is the correct marriage as I cant find anything similar.

Yes Doug...Thats about right, it would make Emily Louisa(child) about 1 yr. old
where is she on 1881,,have got her on 1891..see above. Trouble with the
conflicting surname, as obviously the poor b.....r couldn't read or write. Derek.
