This Joseph Silvers
http://www.bcconnections.tribalpages.co ... =568254691
Connects to families involved in Royal Brierley Crystal
History from Web :-
Joseph Silvers rented the Moor Lane glassworks for his company Silvers, Mills and Stevens in 1819. When his two sons-in-law, William Stevens and Samuel Cox Williams, took over the company in 1847, the name was changed to Stevens & Williams.Samuel Cox Williams became sole proprietor in 1878
Son Joseph Silvers Williams took over from Samuel Cox Williams
Became Brierley Crystal in 1931
Joseph Silvers & Joseph Stevens leased Moor Lane Glassworks for 14 years in 1824 ( Joseph Silvers married sister of Joseph Stevens i.e. Anna Maria Stevens
Joseph Stevens left in 1928 to form Holly Hall Glassworks in 1828 but his brother James Stevens stayed with Silvers & Stevens. James Stevens only son died so he turned over to William Stevens & Samuel Cox Williams thus Stevens and Williams
William Stevens was son of Joseph Stevens snr. and married cousin Maria Stevens dau of Joseph Stevens
William Stevens son Henry Stevens fell out with company and emigrated to Canada to join Joseph Silvers Stevens ( his brother)
Henry died shortly after arriving in Canada and Company paid for Widow and Children to Return to Stourbridge
If William Stevens was a son.in.law of Joseph Silvers he must have married a daughter of Joseph Silvers but I can only find Eliza and Ellen who both married Samuel Cox Williams and Sarah who married Arthur Hall
But also states William Stevens was a son of Joseph Stevens snr. and married a cousin Maria Stevens dau of Joseph Stevens
Any help to sort out relationships would be appreciated

Re: Stevens Connection to Brierley Crystal
According to the Jason Ellis book, Samuel Cox Williams who married firstly Ellen Silvers (she died in 1850 aged 27yrs) and then the older sister Eliza Silvers – apparently Samuel and Eliza married in Birmingham and again in Edinburgh probably because it was illegal then for a man to marry his widow’s sister.
Samuel Cox Williams and Eliza Silvers married 6 Oct 1851 at St Peter’s, Dale End, Birmingham, and 1st March 1852 at Edinburgh Parish Church
Joseph Silvers’s wife Anna Maria Stevens was the sister of Joseph Stevens Snr. whose son William Stevens married Maria Silvers
Anna Maria Stevens was baptised 10 Feb 1788 at Brierley Hill
Joseph Stevens was baptised 3 August 1783 Brierley Hill
Their parents were William Stevens & Susannah Cartwright
I have to say Mumbles, I really admire you for taking on these glassworks families, you must have the patience of Job
