Are we sure that this Roseanna is the Hannah, daughter of Ruth Harper and Benjamin Tromans (baptised in Park Lane Presbyterian Chapel on 11 November 1827) . The marriage record by RF shows her father was a chain maker but the census records show the husband of Ruth was a Jews Harp Maker (1841) and a Nailer (1851).

in 1851 Benjamin is a nailer...chainmaker maybe looked better on certif?

I would like the Hannah, daughter of Ruth Harper and Benjamin Tromans, to be your Roseanna, as she is 'in my line' and I agree that her christening date of 1827 is more consistent with a marriage in 1847. However, the marriage records of her sisters, Mary and Sarah refer to their father as a 'Jews Harp Maker'.

As shown on BCC, Mary married Thomas Hopewell in 1843; and Sarah married a Thomas Botfield in 1852. In both marriage records their father Benjamin is shown as a 'Jews Harp Maker' (Sarah's marriage record can be found on FreeReg). Therefore I find it strange that he should be described in 1847 as a 'Chain Maker' - but then as you point out he was also a 'Nailer'.

Rowley Regis was the centre of the Jews Harp Making industry and the Tromans were a very prominent family in that profession and the trade was carried out in addresses like Club Buildings and Beggars Row- please see the link below.

A bit of a mystery

I was looking this morning...Theres a couple of Benjamins in 1841 some Jews Harp Maker and another labourer. Theres also I cant think now, Hannah/Rosannah looking like staying with a family?
I felt it did lead to the first one Jimmy said thats on BCC. In 1851 they were in Beggars Row. Benjamins mother is as R0sannah though. May be we need to look into all Benjamins?

It is odd that Mary and Sarah put a very deff occup as Jews harp maker on marriage
so we cant connect up at mo which is a shame.
