Anyone got blown away?

Seems like it was rough in the south of England.

It's been blowing in Denmark since yesterday, but it seems like the hurricane has just reached land - got home about 15 mins ago, and it's blowing way more than then - rattling the windows and de-leafing the trees! The leaves sound like small stones as they're hitting the west facing windows.
I live on the west coast, and the rain tasted salty - it picked up the salt from the sea I suppose. They're predicting a really high tide, about 4 meters over the norm (which considering the very small tidal range is massive!) The river close to where we live will burst its banks again (to do with high tide coinciding with the worst of the winds pushing the water back up river about 10 miles or so!

We have been ok. Strong winds yesterday and rain, rain and cold today.
It seems the South have been hit the worse and a few lives lost

We were expecting it to be bad , but luckily it turned out to be ok , really bad down south with four lives lost . Hope you ok Sue .

You seem to have got pretty rough weather in Denmark!

It was not as bad with us, those near the german border and further east where harder hit - highest wind speeds recorded though! Although in 1999 the wind speed measuring thingy broke, just a few meters per second under what was measured the other day. Our town looked like a war zone, with roof tiles every where, roofs having been blown off, gable ends collapsing, and whole woods having the trees ripped up by the roots! So this time every one was taking it quite calmly!

Everyone okay after the latest storm? I know there are a few of you up north.
My mum says that there are flood warnings along the east coast, and the Thames barrier has been closed!

It's blowing here now, I managed to get the last train home this afternoon, and now there are no trains running in the whole of Denmark. Unlike the storm in October, this one covers the whole of the country, and will be over us until tomorrow lunchtime. All the major bridges are closed, and all ferries are cancelled. One of the main airports has cancelled everything, while Copenhagen isn't too bad (yet!), apparently the wind is in the correct direction for the runway.
My husband's office is at the harbour in Esbjerg, and the harbour area was flooded at high tide, which was about 4m over the norm. They recon it'll be flooded again at the next high tide.

We've had really strong wind and rain that has battered the Birmingham area, with trees falling over, trains cancelled and the city's German market closing.

I went out this morning to deliver some leaflets for a local meeting and couldn't wait to get back home...brrrr

Just been on the BBC website, looks like a large area has been affected. There was a little about Rhyl - I remember the last time the town was flooded, as I was a student at the Glan Clwyd Hospital when people started streaming in. We had no idea why at first! British Rail got the blame as they own the barrier that should have stopped the water. For at least a year afterwards there were lorries delivering stone to repair the defences.

It has been bad around here today. Power out in places. Flooding from high tide.
Theres a small wood out the back of us and bits of trees have come down but other areas are really bad.
I could barely stand in the wind today. My husband is having a rough trip on his rig and no chopper flights to get people on and off. So a back log of people waiting to get home...

Gales and freezing here

Very windy here yesterday. A couple of trees are hanging on by a thread in our road. They will have to come down before they get dangerous, the kids are already playing on them. Trains were cancelled in Birmingham last evening, not sure if it was anything to do with the weather though. Jonathan is off to Wales with the Army Cadets this weekend, luckily he's staying in barracks and not camping. I've had my knitting machine out this week and made him a Dr Who scarf - he's taking it with him just in case.

It is a bit chilly here! My husband and I are staying in a wooden chalet - the idea was to measure how hot some old boreholes are, but since it is -12°C and we can't actually find the holes (covered in snow) we are packing up and heading home.

Talking of Iceland wasn't there,for the first time ever, a fatal police shooting last week.Some fella called Haduvalar or something.
