Ihave recently found a relative Charles Duncombe who served in the GrenadierGuards from 1913-1917 as a private. He has quite a few pages about his service on Ancestry but I can't find which regiment or battalion he was in, his number was 957.

Is there any way to find out which battalion he was in, to see where he was injured in 1916 ? On the form he filled in it statesshe was gassed and buried in adug out for about 3 hours he suffered shell shock and his ear dru was damaged by an explosion.
I am going to find some shade now.

he medal index card has him landing in france in 13th aug 1914 with the 2nd grenadier guards 16317 later serving army cyclist corps

he transferred to army cyclist corps on the 8/1/15, so when was wounded / buried on 23/5/16 he was serving with them

He was wounded in 1916, there is a letter from his mother Mrs Elizabeth Duncombe March 1917 asking for him to be given lighter work due to the effects of his wounds and shell shock. There is a date stamp covering who it is addressed to.

i think its a letter to the army trying to get him a job doing light war work i suppose, i think his mother should have written to the ministry of labour?
