I would welcome any suggestions for what this nickname could be short for please Rodeyor Radey.
On the 1881 census RG11/4750 page 107
Cooper Terrace, Newington,Hull
I have William John & Ann Victoria Smith with Ann's children who are down in their stepfathers surname Smith correct name Faulkner.

The child I am having bother with is Rodey or Radey and not sure what it is short for , Rodey is 17 years old and born Dudley Staffordshire, she is not on the 1871 census with the family so I am really stuck with her , I have tried searching for Rhoda and even sent for a birth certificate for a Rhoda Faulkner born Dudley and it was not mine.

If anyone could help me please with any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Annie
Do you have a birth certificate for any of the children belonging to Job +Ann,stating Ann's maiden name. The marriage on IGI www.familysearch.org for Job Faulkner + Ann Victoria Edwards is a submitted
entry not a parish register record. I've found that some submitted records are totally wrong, but, may be not in this case.
There is a marriage for a Job Faulkner +Ann Prince at St James church Dudley 1863 Info from West Midland BMD also on FreeBMD Sept.qtr 1863 vol 6c page41

Hi
Only slight possibility that I see is

1871
Dudley
Edwin Edwards, 56 chain maker & grocer Old Hill, Staffs
Sarah ditto 58 Lye, Worcs
mary Harris? boarder unm 20 chain maker Worcester
Rhode Shaw visitor 6 Dudley

Just wondered if the Edwards connection worked out at all? In 1881 he seems to be born Warwickshire, Birmingham but Sarah is still Lye. can't find them in 1861 though.

OK scrap that because Rhoda Shaw is there in 1881 too so it can't be her. I'll leave the post to save anyone else going this route :-)

Hi All thank you so much for all the help you have given me I do I appreciate it all.

I have Ann V & Job marriage certificate which took some finding and it is in the name of Forknell, Ann V was Edwards, I also have her marriage certifcate when she married William J Smith and gave Faulkner as her maiden name and it says she is a spinster

So far I have found and bought 4 certificates for the children and Ann V as put Edwards for her maiden name :-
Richard Not found certificate yet - Middlesex
Edward 8 Jan 1863 - Steam Brickworks Southall, Norwood Middlesex
Rodey/Radey - Not a Clue - born Dudley Staffordshire
Job 15 Mar 1865 - Steam Brickworks , Southall, Norwood, Middlesex
John abt 1867 - Steam Brickworks. Southall, Norwood Middlesex
Hannah/Annie/Ann my paternal grandma started off Hannah on the 1st census was Annie Smith when she married also used Annie on her childrens birth & baptisms records and died Ann on her death certificate and grave.
was born abt 1870 Middlesex London .
Thomas abt 1873 no certificate found yet - born in Barrow-in-Furness Lancs
Daniel 3 Dec 1873 - 69 Howard St. Burslem, Wolstanton Stafford
Elizabeth b 6 Mar 1876 at 25 Railway Huts ,Saxelby , Melton Mowbray, Leic and died 22 Nov Same address as birth.

So what a mixed up lot they are and making it very hard going, specially with Faulkner being spelt all ways and different places and name chages from Faulkner to Smith then back to Faulkner :?

I will give anything a try so will try thr Radey Leary 1864 Whitchapel and also Roland Faulkner, I bought a certificate for a Rhoda Faulkner but the parents were not Job & Ann.

Thank you again for all your help.
