ARC TBC-Fanny Bird Oakley

Fanny Bird married John Oakley at St.Thomas Dudley in 1865 (RF did a look up for me). I added the marriage and 1871 Census for them on BCC. Free BMD has a death entry for a John Oakley 2nd Qtr 1876. On the 1881 Census Warrington Lancashire, Fanny is listed as wife to Ishmael Palmer. Her Oakley children are with them, and she and Ishmael have a son, Ishmael Palmer b. 1880. On the 1891 York Census she is listed as wife, Married, no husband Ishmael with her, but two more Palmer children born 1882 & 1885 are with her. The only marriage I could find was St. James Dudley in "1888" , Fanny Oakley to Ishmael Palmer? This is 3 yrs after last child was born. On the 1901 Fanny Palmer shows wife, Head, still no Ishmael with her. There is a death entry for Ishmael Palmer, but not till 1907, so where is he on the 1891 and 1901 census. Finally on the 1911 York census she shows widowed. Why would they get married 3 yrs after children born? And where is Ishmael on these census? Help.
