ARC TBC - Seeing double

Post by apw6270 »

According to the censuses, my g-g-grandmother Rosanna E Deane was born in 1852/53 in England. Her father was in the military.

Searching standard BMD records I found a Rosanna Elizabeth Deane bn Q4 1852 Medway. The purchased certificate showed that Rosanna was born 2 Oct 1852 at Chatham Barracks to James Deane (a sergeant) and Elizabeth O'Hara. So far so good, but then......

.....I find an Army Birth (different BMD index) for a Rosanna Deane in 1853. The purchased certificate showed that this Rosanna was born 5 Nov 1853 to James Deane (again a sergeant) and Elizabeth O'Hara.

Suggestions on a postcard please........!

might have to been re registered with the military ? first one died ?
A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

Have you looked for a death certificate?
Hit a Brickwall? Have you lost all trace of someone? Do not despair, simply make a note they were abducted by aliens! Don't believe in aliens? No problem, just write them off as having disapeared in a time portal

Yeah, but can't find one, but it certainly looks like the first Rosanna died. That's the only possible explaination.

No address, just Date of Birth, Date and Place of Baptism ("12 Nov 1853, Brompton"), Christian Name, Parents Names, Rank of Father. The cert is not even the conventional red for a civil Birth, it's black like a civil Death. Top left corner states "An Entry in the Army Register Book of Births, Baptisms, and Marriages"

Brompton is an old village near Chatham, in Medway, England.
