Hello.
I have a birth certificate of an ancestor and there is a little puzzle I need help with please.
The birth was registered in Bath (Somerset, England) in 1881, and below the date and place of birth (column 1) are the letters V.S.P. Does anyone know what this means?
I visited the appropriate street in Bath and I found that some buildings had similar letters chiselled into one of the stones on the front elevation between the ground floor and first floor; letters such as S.M.P. and S.P.P.P. What are these for and are they related to the V.S.P. on the birth certificate?
The actual building that my ancestor was born in no longer exists.
Many thanks,
Alan Weeks.
