ARC..... Possible Pearsall/ Danks/ Southall connection

Post by sp1 »

I think this George Pearsall b 1873:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... all-Family

married Agnes Louisa Danks b abt 1874 (Netherton) 1897 St Johns, Kates Hill (Dudley Register Office 203/007/309). She was the daughter of Edward Danks b abt 1828 Cinderbank, Netherton & Jane: this looks like their marriage - 1850 St Martin, Tipton (Sandwell Register Office 39/6/154) Edward Danks & Jane Wilkes.
I suspect, but cannot be sure without lookup, that this is Edward on BCC:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... nks-Family

A son of Edward & Jane Danks, Samuel b abt 1866 Cinder Bank, Netherton, married Ann Southall - she is on BCC here:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... all-Family
Samuel and 'Annie' were my Grandmothers aunt and uncle - they married 1891 St Giles, Rowley Regis.

Going back to George Pearsall for a moment........
his sister Ellen married James Webb here:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... ebb-Family
notice that the marriage witnesses were.........George Pearsall & Agnes Danks!

I think James Webb's mother on BCC may be incorrect: had a quick look on @ncestry and someone has his father Jacob married twice:
14 Nov 1852, St Giles, Rowley Regis, to Harriet Blacker (b abt 1834 Poulton, Somerset) - she is given as James mother.
Second marriage 1880 St Martin, Tipton, to Mary Ann Lawrence.
Haven't really looked at this, but it looks plausible.

Looking at William Pearsall for a moment:
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... all-Family

the birthplace for him and his children in 1861 & 1871 census is given as Netherton.
I can see two possible marriages on WestMids BMD:

1852 St Martin, Tipton William Pearsall/ SUSANNA Harris (Sandwell Register Office 39/6/359)
1855 All Saints, Sedgley William Pearsall/ HANNAH Russon (Dudley Register Office 216/009/84)
Obviously the birthdate for their daughter Elizabeth (abt 1853, Netherton - from 1871 census: she is not with her parents in 1861 for some reason) confuses the issue - wonder if the age given on census is correct? (Can anyone see her in 1861?)
Williams wife, Hannah, from the census, was born abt 1832, Netherton, which may help determine the correct marriage?

Possible 1851 census for William Pearsall:

1851, Hurst(?), Dudley
William Pearsall, H, Wid, 69, Coal Miner
William, son, 18
Nancy, dau, 16
All b Dudley

Next door:
Daniel Pearsall, H, 34, Coal Miner
Sarah, Wife, 29
Phoebe, dau, 9
Thos, son, 7
Saml, son, 5
Elizth, dau, 2
Thos Stevens, nephew, unm, 17, Brick Maker

And next door to them!
Job Stevens, 58
Srah, wife, 56
Job, son, 20
Hannah, dau, 14
Sarah Robinson, aunt, wid, 87, Pauper, Nailer

It looks like the older William Pearsall is still alive in 1861, living alone, aged 79, widower, living at Level, Woodside, birthplace given as Level.

This is starting to look complicated - I'm going to bed!

Possible baptism for Jane Wilkes:
11 Nov 1832 St Thomas, Dudley, d of Thomas Wilkes & Phebe

There is another one born 15 April 1839, bapt 19 May 1838 d of Thomas & Mary
(both ODM)

Can't see any other, so the 1832 one looks likely - will have a look at census in a while.

Jo
I have connected up George Pearsall and added 1901& 1911 census.

Have also added children and 1901 census for Samuel Danks/ Ann Southall - I have not been able to find any of them in 1911, but they must have been alive as my grandmother knew them, and she wasn't born until 1915!
