Arc tbc...............James Joseph Homer, father Eli

Post by expat66 »

I'm confused :?

I have just been filling in info. for this family on BCC ...

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =714468983

The son John Thomas Homer served with the Worcs. Regt and died in WWI

Now I have come across another 'Homer' in the pension records

James Joseph Homer
, no.3650
7th Btn Worc. Regt
Address - 35 Constitution Hill, Dudley
Joined up 18 Mar 1915 Dudley aged 19years 3 days
His occupation listed as plasterer's labourer
Next of kin given as father - Eli Homer - Fountain Street, Dudley
He was discharged medically unfit for further service 8th June 1915

The Constitution Hill address is the one listed for the family in 1901
The Fountain Street address is the same address as that given for John Thomas' father - Eli Homer on his CWGC record.
Private HOMER, JOHN THOMAS
No. 45233, 1st/7th Bn., Worcestershire Regiment
Died 09/10/1917

Panel 75 to 77., TYNE COT MEMORIAL

Additional Information:
Son of Eli Homer, of 11, Fountain St., Dudley.

I am a bit confused as to who James Joseph is?
there is no James Joseph on the 2 censuses I have for this family :?

1901. 35 Constitution Hill, Dudley

Mary Ann,25,wife
John,5,son

Albert James,13,Son, School Newsboy,Dudley Worc
Frederick,11,Son, School And Newsboy,Dudley Worc

something odd with this one..

I am not sure he is a son of Eli and Mary Ann Homer

on 1911 if Joseph James is James Joseph Homer he is down as Grandchild but before then word step was added to him.

So if this is his birth
1897
Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Reference
HOMER Joseph J Rowley Regis Sandwell Register Office RR/118/16

Where is he in 1901
is he a Joseph James or James Joseph

and who is at that address 35 Constitution hill in 1911?

Henry Tromans dau seems to marry a Noah homer
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =711449560

but not looked that marriage up to see who Noah links to.

Wondering if Joseph/James Homer b 1897 is taken in by Eli? or put as son on war record.

He might be Eli's nephew. Since he is living with his Grandparents we can assume one or both parents are pushing up daisies.

Eli could simply be the relative chosen as Next Of Kin.

Having a look at James Joseph's and John Thomas' signatures on their enlistment.....the Homer is identical.
