I couldn't believe it!! She parachuted into the stadium!! I think Philip must have been waiting for her on the ground.Fantastic show.Rural England to the present day. The Artic Monkeys were great.Come together right now!! Talking of The Beatles i thought Paul Macartney's voice and presentation left a lot to be desired. When Macca gets on the piano i always know i'm in for a rocking time zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz He's a bass guitarist and a fantastiic rock singer.I reckon the Queen must be getting fed up of him. "Philip is that that fellow we knighted a few years ago?" Wasn't he a Cricket or a Beetle or something? Why is he following us around? One good thing when he comes on one knows it's nearly time to go home!"
rather of had tom jones or a welsh voice chior singing along to the highland bands than macca and them anoucing everything in french before english grated on me we should of told them to shove off
A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.
Good point Pete. Why they were announcing in French baffled me. Oh now i have your attention will there be a reprimand for a certain person who mentioned the word b*m last night?

I thought it was absoulutely fantastic, I was glued to the screen. Our children/grandchildren will have learned an awful lot from it all (including respect for others)
I agree with you Rob, Macca was rubbish

It is tradition to announce in French before English when doing the official Olympic Commitee stuff.
Although I really anjoyed the opening and didn't miss a minute of it, I thought that England is far more than waht was shown.
There was no emphasis on the ancient history of the place or the empire it once commanded.
As for the indutrial revolution, there was no representation of the industries in which GB excelled.
The smelting of the Olympic rind was clever but really, the ironworks were needed to produce the equipment and parts for the export industries that made England a force in the world.
Mr McCartney sounded OK. It was no the ideal accoustic stadium!
Anyway, back to the Cycle Road Race. The peloton have just caught the breakaway group which is good foe Team GB.
Speakingof Team GB, they were not very convincing in the soccer yesterday...

I did like the fact that a frenchman (the intenational olympic chairman, or some such) said in his speach that the British started modern sport by creating rules and the sense of fair play. Also that we were the first to introduce sport into schools! As I said to my husband, if a frenchman said it, it must be true!!

Logic merely enables one to be wrong with authority.
They did Mark. As this is my adopted part of the world, I was sorry to see that Penny- Brookes and Much Wenlock were not mentioned directly in the opening ceremony. It is a lovely place, and this year has been swarming with foreign T.V. crews making documentaries about him and the area.
