ARC TBC.............Samuel Gordon b abt 1791

Post by sp1 »

Samuel on BCC here:

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... don-Family

I think we have the wrong marriage, unless he married two different Sarah's as the children are born long before the marriage shown.

I think the more likely marriage is the one to Sarah Chapman 25 Dec 1814 at Old Swinford. This marriage is on the IGI twice - one with the ODM code and one with eASY - so I think one submitted and one extracted?

Is anyone able to look up the witnesses - this may help sort his parents: there are only two possible bapts, one 1790 and one 1792! Whichever one I know the parents are close cousins.

Ohh.......and I don't really think his daughter Mary Ann was really born 1925 and died 1828!

There is a baptism on the IGI 12 May 1793 - with the ODM code (so does this code mean the extracted entries - this shows by accessing via the Hugh Wallis site, which isn't supposed to include submitted entries) for Sarah d of Edward & Mary Chapman which looks about the correct date.

That baptism for Sarah Chapman may not be the right one then (there are others), as I was looking at the age for Sarah in 1851, which presumably is now Sarah Parkes!

Just a thought- is that Mary Parkes aged 15 in 1841 a daughter of Sarah? Was Sarah a widow when she married Samuel??

Have a look now
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =553685490

have added Sarah Unknown and put poss marriage to Sarah Chapman in notes

that 2nd marriage ...if it is one...to Sarah Parkes looks good with a Mary Parkes with them on 1841

the only prob is he is down as a bach on that 1828 one but as we know errors made

the 1841 has the kids from "1st marriage"

what do you think?

and yes Sarah parkes may also have been a widow as per your post

That looks about right. Think we need that marriage lookup -where is RF (and how on earth does he come up with those lookups so quickly!!???)

It looks as if only one of those Samuel Gaudens mentioned earlier married and had children - did the other one die? : I only have the printed copy of the register, which unfortunately is filed away ( for that read 'in my filing cabinet behind about a ton of timber!), so if anyone has the Old Swinford burial register........did the other one die young?
