Re: Possible adoption?
That 1901 census is the one I have showing the girl in Cheshire can't be her.
Clara Ann Bailey nee Price is her mother but Horry does not appear in the 1911 census.
Clara married a John Henry Bailey in 1899, 4 years after Horry was born.
Horry does not appear under the name Bailey in any records.
Maria Brown is nee Round nee Price nee Upton. That is how she ends up with unmarried children with various surnames.
Eliza Price marries the boarder, Alfred Rose, and has a child three months later. Shotgun wedding.
Horry just vanishes and I have no idea after years of hunting her down what happened to her.
This one branch has so many early widows and illegitimates that most of my unsolved mysteries are in it.
The Florence May Dodd on there is actually Florence May Price. I have no idea who her father is because my Great Grandfather Frederick Dodd was in India at the time of her conception. She was registered as a Price but brought up as Frederick's daughter.
The Price family tended to bring up the illigits and I have no evidence of them adopting them out in the past.
