Higgs Boson found!!!!

Post by MarkCDodd »

I know there is a lack of nerds here but still..I can't contain my excitement.

After 48 years and $10 billion dollars in grants they have finally found proof for the existence of the Higgs Boson Particle!!!!

Everything now has mass but all particles created after the big Bang did not.

They had no mass and travelled at the speed of light.

One ten-trillionth of a second after the big bang the first Higgs Boson Particle was created.

These particles produce the Higgs Field.

The HIggs Field interacts with all other particles to give them mass, and hence gravity.

Without the Higgs Field the particles created by the Big Bang would simply have travelled outwards at the speed of light and never interacted.

The Universe would have consisted of nothing but weightless particles.

Now they have found the Higgs Boson they can study Black Matter, which makes up about 84% of the universe.

Anto gravity devices are also a possibility.

Inter dimensional travel may also be possible.

Coooooooool!!!!!!

You have to start by watching all of the different series of Star Trek and then X-Files.

Being a member of Mensa is a negative...they have brains and waste them on important things.

Being an expert on Dungeons and Dragons is required in some districts.

yeh mark knowing dark matters there and using it is a far way off me thinks,

no matter / anti matter reactors round the corner as of yet, would solve the power shortage, dont think the power companies would like that

its like quantum physics Knowing its there and proving it there are two different things

at least we beat the yanks to it

I can go with Star Trek and X-files, but D&D? That's going a bit far!!
Try working where I do, if you aren't a nerd when you start, you quite quickly become one!

And anyway, aren't all genealogists nerds??

What wrong with D&D? We had a game going for more than ten years!! We used to play it at this old reform school that had a table that could seat 30 people. We are spread all over Oz and the rest of the world now otherwise I reckon it would still be going.

As for Dark Matter. They couldn't even start to look until they proved and understood the size and other basics of the Higgs Boson.

They have the experiements to find this theoretical matter and this is the biggest clue they have to help fine tune those experiments.

Of course tehre are the alernate people who say the speed of light has changed since the big bang so we don't need Dark Matter...

Of couse Dark Matter only became popular because of the name of one of the first scientists to propose its existence. Fritz Zwicky is just a cool name!

On the South Circular Ring Road cool breeze on my chest
Strange smell of methane rising up through my vest.
Up ahead in the distance saw a Watneys/Ind Coope
My head was heavy, my mouth was dry, my eyes did loop the loop.
There she stood in the doorway, chip grease in her hair
And I was thinking to myself "This could be Battersea funfair"
Then she lit up a Capstan, and showed me the way
As they gathered round the dartboard, thought I heard them say...
"Welcome to the Hotel Balham High Road.
Egg and chips all day, served on a greasy tray.
Living it up at the hotel Balham High Road
Any time of year, drinking watery beer."
Currently investigating the Hillmans of Sussex.
