Aussie 2011 Census Data

Post by MarkCDodd »

Some interesting facts from the 2011 census.

Australia's population increased by almost 2 million, which is over 8%, since the 2006 census.

Medium age is now 38, up from 37 last census.

Females make up 50.6%.

Almost 25% of the current population were born overseas!!!!!

The UK is still the leading place of birth but New Zealand, China and India are closer in terms of percentage than ever before.

People of Indian origin has grown 14% between the census. I find that amazing since they do nothing but accuse us of being racist in their national press.

Since the last census, the number of Punjabi speakers has increased by 200%

In my home state, Victoria, the percentage of the population born overseas had risen from 23.7% to 26.2%.

Victoria's total population grew by 8.5% and it makes up just over a 1/4 of the total population of 21,507,719.

A bit like the gold rush when Victoria was the place to emmigrate to, the boom mining states of Queensland and Western Australia have had the biggest population increases. Western Australia's population grew a staggering 14.3%. (No wonder Gina Rinehart is now the world's richest woman and will be the world richest person by the end of the year!)
Black Holes happen when God divides by zero.
