I'm looking for the second marriage of Mary Mitchell Knowles - as yet no luck!
Mary was born in about 1790, parents unknown.
In 1814 she married William Wearing (30 May 1814, St Peter's, Wolverhampton - source IGI)
William died in 1840, and Mary is living in West Bromwich in 1841:
Bridge End, West Bromwich North East, Staffordshire
Mary Wearing, 45, Brass Founder,
Thomas, 18, Brass Founder
Harriet, 15,
George, 9,
James Asbury, 20,
All born in County
At some point between the cenus's Mary married Thomas Siddons. And they are here in 1851:
Hawkess Lane, West Bromwich
Thomas Siddons, Head, Mar, 45, Shoe Maker, West Bromwich, Staffordshire
Mary, Wife, Mar, 50, West Bromwich, Staffordshire
George Wearing, Son, Unmar, 20, Brass Founder, West Bromwich, Staffordshire
Mary died in 1851.
I've tried ancestry, fmp, wmbmd, IGI with no luck.
My aunt, confirms that it is the same Mary, (I'm waiting for her death cert, for further confirmation). But neither of us can find a marriage. Of course it's always possible that they didn't marry. Some of that part of the family have links to Yardley Wood. On the 1841 Census, Mary is named as Brass Founder - this is the company Mary Wearing and Sons, in which her sons Joseph, Thomas and George would later inherit. George Wearing would eventually have his own firm at Carters Green in West Bromwich. Thomas later moved to Wednesbury and while still being a Brass Founder was also a liscensed victualler. We have found an advertisment for Mary Wearing and sons from a 1865 directory from Wednesbury.
