ARC TBC.............Parents of John Henry Wall

Hi,

I am trying to discover the parents of my gx2 grandfather John Henry Wall (1868-1951).

John was born in Birmingham around 1868/9 and is lodging with John Henry Spittle and family in the 1881 and 1891 census. Samuel Wall b:1870 who i assume to be John Henry Wall's younger brother is also living with the Spittle family in 1881. At the time of the 1891 census Samuel wall is living with John Henry Spittle's sister Rose Stafford (nee Spittle, listed as nephew).

I cannot trace who John and Samuel Wall's parents were, i assume there must be some link with the Spittle family as living descendents remember our family being known as 'the Spittles'. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks Linell, I hadn't come across the 1871 census entry before, it does look like fisher on the original but the other details do seem to fit.

I did send off for a birth certificate, not sure if it is the one you mention. The one i have is birthdate 6th March 1868 , registered 13th April 1868, St phillip, Birmingham, County of Warwick. Mother: Eliza Wall formerly Jones and father John Wall

I couldn't find John Henry on the 1871 Census, Ancestry doesn't have him recorded after Mary Widow aged 87, was that information from FMP

I think this search is getting too wide, John Henry Wall gives his place of birth as Birmingham, so does brother Samuel, the connection seems to go from Lye where there were a lot of Spittles, to Birmingham and back to Lye.

Cariadara, if you send for a birth certificate, would you know if it was the right one or not If the answer is NO, I think you will have to order the one for Samuel too, as they should tally up, same place of birth and parents, hopefully.
