Joseph & Ellen Moore ARC TBC?

Post by Sharon »

Hi all! Thanks for recent help..
Thanks to PeterD, I now have a "lead" on my hunt for ancestors of John Moore. His death was witnessed by sister in law Ellen Moore in 1879. She was also a witness in July 1880 at the wedding of John's daughter Clara at Old Hill church. John died at Foxoak Street Rowley Regis, and although there are several Ellen Moore's- Peter cleverly found one living nearby in Providence Street in 1881, which seems most likely. She is widowed, a char woman, with 4 children, all noted as being born in Hereford.
In 1871 the family, including husband Joseph, are living at Ocle Pitchard (lovely! sounds like a childrens t.v. programme!), Kyming & Hawbury Barn, Herfordshire.
Ellen stated as born c 1840 at Bishop Frome, Hereford. Her husband Joseph at Upper Sapey, Worcs about 1822.
In 1861 Joseph a servant, single, at Cowarne Court, Much Cowarne, hereford .

Can anyone find him and his family prior to this? I'm trying to find a brother John, & father William?
...with thanks...

Update...still awaiting marriage cert...
Went to Bromyard archives..found a baptism for John & Harriet at Upper Sapey, but no Joseph..
No marriage record for Joseph & Ellen in Upper Sapey or Bishop's Frome..
Ellen's children remained in the B.C., 2 raising their families in Providence St., if we can prove this link, there'll be further branches to B.C.
PeterD & Mark may be onto something re. prisoners...found a Joseph & Ellen Moore recorded in the Epiphany assises Hereford. They were both tried for Larceny on 30th Dec 1867, both acquitted..
ooo-er!
Found John's burial. St Luke's Reddal Hill 9th April 1879 ( 5 days after he died, 3 after his death was registered). (Parish records). He was "on my doorstep" all the time...
