ARC TBC.............Maria Beasley born 1827 Cradley

Post by mo & rog »

I am a direct descendant of Edward Hodgetts (born 1830 Cradley) and Maria Beasley or Cox or Cox-Beasley. In the past I have seen the BCC tree and other trees on ancestors.co.uk where it is alleged that Joseph Cox fathered childen with his wife Sarah Beasley and her sister Elizabeth Beasley simultaneously. Although a number of people appear to have carried out a lot of research on this, it still seems quite incredible. I have now obtained Maria's marriage certificate to Edward Hodgetts dated 6 March 1848 and it shows Maria's father as being Joseph Beasley. Could it be that this certificate is in error or is there some other explanation? Does anyone have any further thoughts on this?

Found a burial at Cradley for Joseph Cox aged 40 3.10.1831. Would be interesting to see if both sisters are buried with him or not??

Don't think they married Jan, think Sarah was still alive a 'menage a trois.' Maybe she moved in with someone else? Who knows these people lived chaotic lives.

Marriage details for Joseph Cox X bach otp and Sarah Bearsley X sp otp. Witnesses were Samuel Parks and Nancy Cox.
