ARC TBC.......................Benjamin PARISH born 1854

Post by kdp »

Hi All you good people,

Can anyone help me with this please

I have a Benjamin Parish born 1854 Commonside Staffordshire

He appears on the 1871 census
Lister Street (Milners) Aston Birmingham
RG10 3146 42
Thomas Parish head 53 labourer staffordshire Brierley Hill
Mary Parish wife 55 Worcestershire
James Parish 15 Son ?
Charles Parish 12 son Staffs Dudley Port
Benjamin Parish 14/17 unclear transcribed as 17 son Commonside Brierley Hill

(Many POB mistranscribed for this family on this Census on my search engine)

This is the first, last and only time Benjamin appears with this family and on my search engine there are no other entries for him (births etc)
There appears to be something written in the end box of the census next to his name but I cant make out what it says (the box asking if any disabilites)

Any suggestions please :P

If it is 17 -- he is the oldest son on this census? -- when were parents married? -- has he older siblings? -- if not was he born/registered with another surname and then reverted to it in later life?

Hi
Thomas Married Ann Salt in 1840, She already had a daughter Maria Salt. Ann dies and Thomas Remarries Mary Kilby nee Bennet in 1849. Thomas dies in 1877 in Aston.

These are the children that I have Paper trails for:
Maria Salt/Parish 1839
Mary 1841
Ann 1843
William 1845
Elizabeth 1850
Jane 1853
Thomas 1855
James 1857
Charles 1860

William Kilby 1841
Caaroline Kilby 1843 the Kilby children all died quite young
Sarah Kilby 1847

In 1841 the family are in Level, Kingswinford
Thomas, 20
Ann, 25
Maria, 2
Mary 3mths
Richard Salt, 25 (anns brother)

1851 Pensnett as above

61 Private Park Lane Tipton (mistranscribed as Parry/Perry depending on ur search engine)
Thomas 43 Labourer Brierley Hill
Mary 44 Worcestershire
Sarah 16 Stourbridge Bromley (Kilby)
Elizabeth 11 "
Jane 8 "
Thomas 6 "
James 4 "
Charles 1 Tipton

71 Aston Birmingham as above

81 Mary is with son James and 91 with daughter Jane

71 is the only census where Benjamin appears I can find no other Benjamin Par(r)ish on any other census that tie in. I can find No BMDs. And I have no other family members with the name Benjamin (in case he was a relative visiting) :?: Apart from a Benjamin Malpas who was born in Kingswinford 1853 and Thomas' Nephew but in 71 he was with his mother in Kingswinford

I wonder if Thomas was wrongly transcibed as Benjamin in 1871.
