Well the Rowley Regis area was on high alert yesterday for 2 women in matching
troos and trainers briskly walking up the Rowley streets.

Lulu and I did it! :grin:

Went to St Giles for a look too some very interesting names some I
recognised from the BCC tree.

Interesting to see where the Club Buildings were and how they looked
in the old books and how it all looks now.

Well done girls!! I would have liked to see you power walking up towards Rowley Church.
You know i phoned my Uncle Cyril last night and he was walking past Rowley Labour Club,in fact that's where the old Club Buildings were!!,anyway he mentioned that afternoon whilst walking home he'd seen this terrible sight.He couldn't bring himself to talk about it but thought he'd be traumatized for life!! He was frightened to go out to feed his pidgeons!! God knows what he saw!!

There were a few quizzical looks as we 'Power Walked' up Hanover Road. I doubt they see many middle aged women in sports gear trotting up that hill, complete with camera. :lol:

Having walked down from Church Road to Tippity Green and then on down Portway Road, it came as a nasty surprise to find how far we had descended (I live in Worcester, we don't do hills!) but it became all too evident when we saw that long hill in front of us. Rather pleased that just a minute of walking on the level and we were ready for a good 20 minute clamber around the churchyard. All those old Rowley names, coming up again and again on the memorial stones, it was like walking through a 3D version of BCC. :wink:

Robbie. Did you live in a different Rowley from the one I know? There are some 1960 or 70s houses in Stanford Drive, where the Club Buildings were. A few yards past and on the other side of the road is a large old house, which shows strong evidence of subsidence, which is The CONSERVATIVE Club. Might that be what you were thinking of?
