I am currently doing a bit of research on the famous English painter, William Powell Frith (19.1.1829 - 9.11.1909) and somebody in Ancestry.co.uk mentioned that "around 1856" he was in a libel suit against Ruskin and James Whistler was also involved. I'm not sure if this is correct but I'm wondering if files are kept anywhere of former libel cases that can be read up?
Thanks.
