Hi all!
James Stephenson was born circa 1823 in Cheshire.
He marries a "Jane" and has children with her in Liverpool.
The easiest to identify is "Jane Havelock Stephenson"
birth: 23 Feb 1858
christening: 18 Mar 1858 Liverpool,"‹ Lancashire,"‹ England
But im struggling to go any further back than James.
Do you think this is the most likely marriage:
Jun 1850
Mulloy Jane Liverpool 20 321
Stephenson James Liverpool 20 321
Also on Family Search as Jane Mulley
Really stuck with this one!!
Thanks
Andrew

Re: James Stephenson
Hello Andrew,
On Ancestry there are two James Stephensons married to a Jane. One who states he was born in Malpass, Cheshire and the other one Chester, Cheshire

All born Liverpool
Bapt: Liverpool St Peter
30 March 1851 "“ Robert "“ James & Jane Stephenson "“ Mansfield Street "“ Labourer
Born: 28 Feb 1851
Bapt: Liverpool St Peter
18 March 1858 "“ Jane Havelock "“ James & Jane Stephenson "“ Scotland Road "“ Confectioner
Born: 23 Feb 1858
There are baptisms of the other children as well on Ancestry.
Unfortunately, with the different occupations of James on these documents, it still doesn"™t confirm if this is the correct marriage. Jane"™s middle name of Havelock must fit in some where. Could be one of her grandmother"™s maiden name?
Have you tried searching for James in the 1841 census with father James Stephenson?

Re: James Stephenson
i was hoping Porter in 1851 could be Warehouse Porter really?
This seems the most likely for James Stephenson with a father of James born in Cheshire:
And i think this is the Baptism for Jane Mulloy:
but nothing gets me any closer to proving it!
Could it be the only option is to order the certificate of Jane Havelock to get the mother maiden name?

Re: James Stephenson
I also found that James Stephenson in the 1841 census as well and wondered if it could be the same James.
Could this be the marriage of Jane Mulloy"™s (bapt 7 May 1826) parents?
Image from Ancestry:-
Marriage: 28 July 1822 at Liverpool St Nicholas
Robert Mulloy of the Parish of Liverpool, Taylor
and Mary Ann Hollins of same parish Spinster
Wit: Thomas Hollinds?, John Collin?
It doesn"™t state if Robert is a Bachelor or Widower.
19 May 1850 at St Nicholas Church, Liverpool
James Stephenson "“ Full "“ Bachelor "“ Warehouseman "“ Baptist St "“ James Stephenson - Gardener
Jane Mulloy "“ Full "“ Spinster "“ Baptist St "“ Robert Mulloy "“ Tailor
Wit: Robert Mulloy, Ann Yates?
To be 100% sure, it would be best to get the birth certificate for Jane Havelock Stephenson.
