Whatever happened to Elsie Marian Pitman 1876?

Elsie Marian Pitman was born on 19/10/1876 in Camden, London and was my GrandMother. She had a daughter Edith Maud by Thomas Frederick William Goodman in 1915. The birth certificate names her as Marian Elsie Goodman (formerly Pitman) but I can find no trace of a marriage. Her Father was Herbert and Mother Marion. Elsie, together with Edith Maud, was discharged from St Lukes workhouse in City Road, London on 18/8/1920. Late 1920 early 1921 Edith, the daughter is admitted to the Holborn Union Mitcham School as an orphan and homeless and illegitimate. The record states that her Mother and Father are dead. Her Father had actually returned from the Great War but there is no further trace of my GrandMother Elsie Marian. We can find no record of her death. She has also been referred to as Marie and Mary. If anyone can help me find out what became of Elsie Marian Pitman I will be forever grateful.
