RF kindly did a marriage look-up for me as I was hoping to link this Mary Ann Chatwin (*)

to Frederick Simpson.
However, the forename of the bride's father on the certificate is George, and I was expecting Charles. I have put the the people involved in the wedding on Bcc.

I have spent some time looking through the census data on ancestry for 1881 and 1891, but I can't find any trace of a Mary Ann Chatwin with a father named George.

I'm beginning to think that it is possible that the Vicar has put the wrong forename for Mary Ann's father.

(1) In the 1891 census, the Mary Ann (*) originally on Bcc is with her parents in Tibbetts' Gardens. She is described as a 'dressmaker'.
(2) In that census, her father Charles is a 'labourer', crossed out, 'iron worker' inserted.
(3) On the marriage lines, the father (George) is an 'iron worker'.
(4) In 1901, the Simpsons are in Allbut Street, Rowley Regis and Mary Ann Simpson is (again) described as a 'dressmaker'.

I would welcome any thoughts and additional search assistance.

I think the age for Mary b abt 1876 looks good for father Charles
Alfred with her on 1911
and they call son Charles
