i would of refused and they could of put me in a hotel as they all would of been insured against the flight

I'm not sure there was insurance on this particular flight, I recall an article about it on the radio where they were explaining that the company who organised the flights weren't covered by the requisite regulations. It was a matter of pay up or get stranded on the airside of customs with no permission to enter the country and therefore no ability to rebook with another operator.
