... but all the kids I have found ( John, Eliza & William) are born in Oldbury
.... so I don't know if William & Sarah married in Oldbury area or Droitwich area?

There's a Marriage on Free BMD at Droitwich March Qtr 1865 for Wm Hooper and a Sarah Watkins, maybe need one of the children's birth certificates to confirm this, also Wm Hooper's birth certificate to prove his lineage.

..still a bit confused about the wife though.... are Sarah and Hannah the same person or did he marry twice?... birthplace is Powick? ... there does appear to be a place with that name near Worcester?

Hi Expat, yes Powick is just south of Worcester, Droitwich is up the road, a few miles further north, all very near each other.

Still wondering about that second marriage for William Hooper, which would have been after 1875 but before 1881

and I suppose it is also possible that this is a second marriage for Sarah too??

There are a couple of marriages for a William Hooper and a Sarah....

It could be that he never married Sarah if she was Hannah's sister, it was against the law to to marry brother or sister in laws, but a lot of people did.
