JUst after the war, from a wedding photograph. The insignia looks to me like a Lieutenant in the RNVR?

Yes known by the Royal Navy as the 'Wavy Navy' looks like there is a letter inside the gold ring, could it be an 'A' for Aviator :?: Linell.

I don't think he was an aviator, wondering what other letters there might be that it could be.

this is one of my distant cousins he was in the anson infantry battalion
