*COMPLETED* William Smart (marriages re-checked)

Post by mallosa »

Thanks Barb for doing that

She says "I've checked the marriage for William Smart & Sarah Hartshorn on 17 August 1845 at All Saints, Sedgley - William Smart is definitely stated as a Bachelor not Widower.
Marriage for William Smart & Martha Hartshorn 21 August 1839 at Holy Trinity, Wordsley - William Smart is definitely stated as a Bachelor"

Marriage 17 August 1845 All Saints, Sedgley
William Smart, FA, B, Cordwainer, Sedgley, John Smart, Miner
Sarah Hartshorn X, Minor, S, Gornal, George Hartshorn, Miner
Wit: Isaiah Oakley, Elizabeth Hartshorn X

here he is on BCC

Do we agree it's the same William?

.. father to both Sarah and Martha Hartshorne is George, so that fits

..both Marriages have William as a Cordwainer with father John

..1841 William and Martha have a son Samuel b1840

..1851 William and Sarah (Martha's sister) have son Samuel b1840

I think it's an error on the parish record, it should state William as a wid on his marriage to Sarah

That looks pretty conclusive to me, Mally.

And that same William Smart is living in George St. in both the 1841 & 1851 census.
Some mistakes are too much fun
to only make once.
