Swings and roundabouts.

If they do not get the taxes from the petrol they will need to squeeze it out of you some other way.

So you stop the 4p levie and find:

a) More tollways

or

b) Major road projects cancelled or delayed.

What they have done in Australia is ask private enterprise to create tollways that the government allows them run for 50 or 100 years.

The profits from the toll pays for the roadworks and generates a profit for the private company.

SO many of our new freeways are privately owned

Hi Mark,
I not talking about the taxes on the the fuel, that would be a waste of time, there was a report in the news earlier this week about the rip of by the supermarkets, etc, if you have an Asda or Morissons petrol station local to you in this country, petrol and derv can be up to 6p cheaper per litre, in Kidderminster it is about 136p per litre, in Tourquay in Devon it is about 130p per litre, so its all down to price fixing.

fuel should be link to the price of a barrel of oil and go up and down accordingly that would stop some of the ripoffs
A person should have an opinion on everything, It becomes tact whether you reveal that opinion or not.

When the Price Per Barrel rises, the pump will reflect this within hours.

When the Price Per Barrel drops, it can take days for the pumps to change.

You expect a large variance in price across Australia because of the long distances and differing state taxes.

I can't see much justification across Great Britain.

Locally it is $1.46 per litre for ULP which is about 95p.

Sounds a bit better than £1.36!!!!

I like the irony in paying to use "freeways"
