Last year, for Jonathan's birthday, I adopted an urangutan called Jazz. We visit her occasionally and take her a bottle of Ribena - which she loves. We visited her again yesterday to see her new baby Sprout. Sprout is 22 weeks old and Jazz was proudly showing her off to visitors.
We gave the bottle of Ribena to her keeper and he took us into the room where Jazz's food is kept. We then got up close and personal with mother and baby. The keeper took us to the bars where Jazz is fed and we were allowed to touch her and feed her grapes. She is totally delightful and the baby is so beautiful.
What an absolutely brilliant day.
I have attached a couple of photos which I took yesterday, there are more from the Zoo website here : http://www.dudleyzoo.org.uk/news/orang-utan-born-at-dzg
