Watch the anarchists over the next few days. They will interrupt the funeral but I hope people don't mistake them for the miners who are protesting vocally but legally.

That is exactly my point. How many fruitless discussions do we see and hear where no one is going to change their opinion.
Marky is nearer to the truth than you think but hey what does he know he wasn't there.Step back from your personal feelings about Margaret Thatcher and read what he's saying.

I have Rob , but to me I cannot think of any thing other than the Falklands, that she did to help the working class of this country. My husbands uncle was a trade unionist, and he was not a rich man by any means just a long distant lorry driver, he just wanted a fair wage for everyone . He didn't want young people going to work for the experiences and going home with no pay .hoping that they might get the job. He wanted proper work for everyone. Everything she sold ,and the only people that could afford the shares were people well off, not the ordinary man in the street .I come from a working class family ,we did not have much as children except lots of love , before i was born my sister was very ill and my dad had to pay for the doctors , the torys were in then . Now they would make everything private again. I might not have the eloquent ways of speaking or the exact knowledge ,but I do know what was best for me and my family, and Mrs Thatcher did nothing for us what so ever.

Someone pointed out that considering Margaret Thatcher was so against State subsidies, it is amusing to see that she will have a State subsidized funeral

The Queen used to be the richest woman in the world. (Gena Reinhart, the Aussie miner, is now the world's richest woman and will soon be the world's richest person).

Her mother died but the same funds used to bury Thatcher were used to give the Queen Mother a State Funeral.

Princess Dianna was also given a State Funeral.

Did any of you who are protesting against Thatcher's funeral kick up a stink about those two?

The money used for State Funerals is in a special fund that earns interest.

Since the large gap between such funerals, the fund is more than likely self sufficient.

So the cost is probably zero to the taxpayer and the money is not being taken from anywhere else it may have been used.

the point is mark as im a british tax payer i have a right to comment about where the money spent no matter which public purses they come from and what intrests it makes, as for the two members of the royal family di & the queen mothers the funerals were what the majority of the people wanted not so in this case

I've read somewhere Pete that state funerals are paid for out of a special fund and that since it's been a while since the last one the interest accumulated will pay for it.
It won't cost you,the tax payer,anything.
Where the original money came from i don't know but was probably yours, the tax payer.
Haha i've just realized where i read it.
