Walter Taylor He was born in Worcester in Worcestershire in 1845 . In the 1911 census he writes in his own hand that he was born there, and his birth is 1845. The family that live in Worcester at the same time John Taylor Hereford labourer

Walter married Ann Maria Drinkwater and they had one daughter - Florence Jane Taylor - who was born in Worcester in 1873.
By the 1881 census when Florence was 8 years, Walters wife was listed as Louisa.
Walter came to NZ as a Glove Cutter assisted by the Government of New Zealand to Canterbury - he was going to join his brother Charles who was already in Christchurch. Walter paid 5 pound himself and the cost to the NZ Government was 22 pound 15 shillings each for he and Florence - his sponsernumber was 901 Canterbury.
Walter aged 36 years, with Florence aged 10 years left Plymouth, England on the ship "Waitangi" on the 27 October 1883 and arrived in Lyttleton, NZ on 12th January 1884. Florence slept on a bunk with another young lady - Emma Spinner aged 18 years. The Waitangi had two decks and 3 masts and was well founded with very fine accommodation. They had fine weather on the voyage.
Walter was a sponser for the Baptism of Joseph Archibald Macfarlane (Arch) - his grandson, on 30 September 1894.s Family This is their Walter
