Amazing what we can do, without any info to work on from the start. Ideally, I would have liked to find a proper Rowley link but Bumble Hole is pretty close. He actually looks like a Hackett. I reckon there is some more Rowley blood in there somewhere

Looks ok as John on 1841 is bapt at st giles too in 1823

portway is rowley anit it, is it just as you pass the chapel on your left, next left opossite the chaplin pub and about 100 yards down ? well thats portway rd anyway

Sorry, been out. Portway is on the Oldbury and Whiteheathgate side of Rowley Hills, it is a continuation of Throne Road and goes up to what used to be the Hamlet of Portway, up on the hills., Bumble Hole is the other, Netherton side, the Old Hill and Cradley Heath side. Where the Canal basin is and the Dry Dock Pub, we went there for a little walk when Gardener was over here a few years back. As the crow flies and as people used to walk pretty much in straight lines back then, not really a huge distance apart.
Who put Walsall on one Census?
Just seen Pete's post, yes that way leads to Portway, you turn down Tippety Green and carry on to meet me coming up the other way.
