Isn't it wonderfull how a thread on vomiting has morphed into several different subjects

They are yet to decide if they will try and explode them or do the surgery.

Either way, the next doctor who prods me and asks, "Does this hurt?" will wake up with a black eye and my hands around their neck

I personally think if you do that and end up in court, you should be able to plead provocation.

I don't know of any doctor who, on hearing "My <insert body part> is extremely painful", doesn't immediately proceed to tell you to expose it and then forcefully poke/prod/press it asking "Does this hurt?".

If they go the surgery route, it's usually keyhole surgery. Quicker recovery, can't be too bad.
I hope they've told you to stay away from fatty foods, that tends to agravate it.

Have you had a scan then?
Have you had the pain for a while?

cos over here takes ages to get a scan I ended up getting one done privately
which I was not happy about!

Even on public I could have had the scan the next day and if surgery was required it would be done within a week.

People complain about out Public Health but compared to other countries it is pretty good.

I do have private insurance though....

I am already on a very strict diet so fatty foods are not the problem.

Gallstones canbe caused by different things and their colour and size vary according to the cause.

In Denmark, it depends on the symptoms. If the pain comes suddenly and is severe, then you get a scan straight away as they have to rule out other things. If it's not too bad, then you can wait awhile. One thing though, about 50% of people over 50 have gallstones and don't know it! They only become a problem if they get stuck in the bile duct, or if there are loads of them.
