Forgot to say Terry,
1891 Census - Bloomfield Street, Bromley, London
Cecelia Lawrence - Head - Widow - 54 - Living on own means - Poplar, London
Mary Ann Lawrence - Dau - Single - 14 - Poplar, London
Cecelia Lawrence - Dau - 3 - Poplar, London - Your grandmother born 1 May 1887
Cecelia the Head of the Household, says that Cecelia (aged 3) is her daughter, but Ceceilia the elder would have been 51 when Cecelia the younger was born. Not impossible I suppose, but.....

Sorry meant to say on 1891 census, not 1881. Some people have suggested that Mary Ann (14) could have really been her mum. On the birth certificate is shows Ann Maria as the mother, no father but on her wedding certificate it shows Frederick lawrence as the father. This of course is always assuming I have the correct birth certificate. I definately have the correct marriage certifiacate. DOH.

I am unsure of the number but it is the only one around this time so I guess so. She was born on 1st May 1887.

From Free BMD it shows things in Quarters of the year, so that is probably right.

I do have the birth cerificate, cannot see the reference you quote on it though. Am I being stupid.
I am waiting to hear back from the british library to see if they have the electoral roll for her house (4Whitethorn Street ) for the year in question. If so, i then have to go and view it. They will not send details via email or post.
I am also waiting to hear back from Dr Barnados to see if she was with them at any time.
I guess I can't do much for now.

You could also check the electrol list on the house she was married from as there might be a clue there ?

Ypu are not being stupid. It wont be on the certificate its what they use as a reference to find it.
