I think William & Lucy's daughter Elizabeth had three illegitimate children - Ann b abt 1863, Lucy b abt 1868, and Joseph b abt 1870. In 1871 they are living with John Hanbury (head), with Elizabeth listed as boarder, and the children listed as daughters, and son.
Elizabeth went on to marry John Hanbury in 1875 at St Andrew, Dudley.

In 1881 two of the children are still with the couple, with surname as Shakespeare, plus a number of Hanbury children.

In 1891 Lucy ( the daughter) is still there, now as Hanbury: in 1892 this Lucy marries as 'Lucy Shakespeare Handbury' to Benjamin Littleton Pearson (Chesterfield Registration District).

I have found Williams death, and that comes out with an 1813 birthdate, so that's spot on! Dont think too much reliance can be placed on the ages in the census as we have several different ones! I think the presence of his niece/ relative Florence, and also Thomas Garland (who was also executor of his Will) confirms him as Benjamin's brother. There were only (surprisingly!) two Williams born around this date in the area, so the other one is the one who married Lucy Skidmore (other thread).
